Professional Women's Network hosting event for young women with Down Syndrome during London Fashion Week

Professional Women's Network Down Syndrome The Professional Women's Network (PWN) is proud to announce a unique and empowering event during London Fashion Week.

On Friday 13th September, at Future Dreams House, PWN will host a special fashion show to empower young women with Down Syndrome and raise funds for Books Beyond Words, a charity dedicated to helping young adults and children understand the world through pictures and books.

Books Beyond Words was founded on a touching story of a child visited every Thursday by their only parent, their father. When the father passed away, no one informed the child, fearing they would not understand due to their disability. This led to the child self-harming every Thursday. The breakthrough came when the loss was communicated through images and a book, highlighting the power of visual storytelling and giving birth to Books Beyond Words.

This year's fashion show will feature women with Down syndrome walking the catwalk, showcasing their beauty and potential. The event is part of PWN's annual President's Charity Choice, selected this year by the current president, Stéphanie Tumba; she says, "We want to tell these women that they are beautiful and can achieve anything they aspire to."

The British Fashion Council has shown favourable interest in sponsoring the event, promising to add further prestige and visibility to this significant cause. The show will highlight the importance of inclusion and empowerment in the fashion industry, sending a powerful message of diversity and acceptance.
